The Volkshochschule Chemnitz is hosting a VHS Climate Meeting on the last Thursday of each month, with the next one scheduled for September 25th. The event, taking place at the Botanical Garden, Leipziger Straße 147, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, is free for all and aims to build a climate-aware community in Chemnitz.

Under the motto "Sustainability connects", the meeting offers a chance for Chemnitz residents to learn about climate protection and sustainability. The goal is to foster networking, regular exchange, and discussions on current topics related to climate change.

Sten Gillner, a Swedish forestry scientist and professor specializing in forest ecology and climate change, will deliver an overview of climate change and its impact on plants. Known for his research on forest management and its impact on ecosystems, Professor Gillner is also the director of the Botanical Garden Chemnitz.

The heat and drought of recent years have led to increased pest infestation, growth restrictions, and even the death of plants. However, some plants can develop adaptation strategies to cope with climate changes. Professor Gillner will discuss these strategies and more during his presentation.

Interested individuals can register for the Climate Meeting via an event link or by phone at 0371 488 4343. By attending this event, residents of Chemnitz can take a step towards engaging for a climate-friendly city and contribute to the ongoing dialogue about sustainability.

Together, ways should be found to engage for a climate-friendly Chemnitz. The VHS Climate Meeting is a great opportunity to start this journey and connect with like-minded individuals in the community. Join us on September 25th at the Botanical Garden, Leipziger Straße 147, and let's work together for a sustainable future.
