Adoration for Nemo Aurora Highrise Abounds - Experience It for Yourself

A comprehensive review of the Nemo Aurora Highrise car camping tent: A standout option for spacious, high-quality accommodations

In our extensive camping experiences, we have had the pleasure of trying many tents, ranging from budget-friendly options to high-end models. Among all of them, the Nemo Aurora Highrise has stood out as our favorite car camping tent.

During multiple camping trips lasting several nights, we put the Highrise to the test and are excited to share our thoughts with you.

We found the Highrise to be an exceptional choice for those seeking a spacious, well-ventilated, and durably-built tent. Here are our observations on the tent's standout features, as well as some areas for potential improvement.

Easy setup and design

The Highrise's straightforward setup process is one of our favorite aspects. Color-coded straps on the tent's corners (blue on the rear and green on the front) ensure hassle-free positioning and staking. Furthermore, the finger-pull tabs on the crossbar attachment points help to easily slide the tent into place. The rainfly also goes over the top without difficulty, despite the tent's larger size.

Generous interior space

The interior of the Highrise truly impressed us. With a peak height of 75 inches (6 feet 3 inches), most occupants will have no problem standing upright, making it significantly more convenient for changing clothes, preparing gear, or using items like air mattresses or pumps.

Quality materials and craftsmanship

The Highrise's attention to detail is evident in its high-quality materials, which include a 150-denier floor resistant to tears and aluminum poles that are resistant to snapping or splintering. The rainfly meets or exceeds the 1200mm waterhead rating, ensuring robust protection against downpours. Our hands-on testing confirmed that the seams are sealed and watertight, keeping campers dry and comfortable in a variety of weather conditions.

Cross-ventilation windows

A key highlight of the Highrise is its unique and effective cross-ventilation windows. These windows allow for better airflow regardless of whether the rainfly is on or off, preventing the buildup of excess heat and providing a better sleeping environment even during muggy nights.

Two large doors and two vestibules

The Highrise comes equipped with two spacious doors and two vestibules, each measuring approximately 4.4 feet by 4.4 feet. These features offer ample storage space for shoes, packs, and other camping gear, all protected from the elements. The inclusion of two doors grants flexibility in entering and exiting the tent, making it exceptionally easy to store and access equipment.

Thoughtful additions

A variety of thoughtful touches elevate the Highrise above typical car camping tents. Examples of these well-considered features include a night light overhead pocket for convenient use of headlamps, generously sized storage pockets on the side walls, adjustable and reflective guylines, and a combination of hooks and sleeves for the poles to enhance stability.

Considerations for improvement

While we found very few areas for improvement in the Highrise, one potential drawback is its taller profile, which may catch more wind than lower-profile tents. This can be a concern when camping at higher elevations or in exposed areas, where wind is more likely. However, this consideration is a trade-off for the interior spaciousness, and we found the Highrise to be stable overall.

Comparing alternatives

Some similar options on the market with comparable features and quality include the REI Co-op Base Camp 6, The North Face Wawona 6, Mountain Hardwear Bridger, Zempire Evo TM V2 Inflatable Air Tent, and Coleman Dark Room Skydome. Each of these alternatives offers specific benefits, so it's essential to examine your needs and preferences to determine the best choice for you.

In conclusion, we highly recommend the Nemo Aurora Highrise for anyone seeking a spacious, well-ventilated, and high-quality car camping tent. Its thoughtful design, durable materials, and streamlined setup process make it an outstanding option for campers seeking a standout tent for their outdoor adventures.
