Aesop's 'The Second Skin' serves as a sensory oasis during the Salone del Mobile 2025 event.

In the heart of Milan during the bustling Milan Design Week 2025, Aesop's installation, The Second Skin, opened at Salone del Mobile on April 7th. The installation, which is located in the sacristy of Brera's Chiesa del Carmine, serves as a tranquil antidote to the city's noise during its busiest week.

Aesop, renowned for its design-led customer experiences in its 400-plus stores worldwide, has created an installation that invites visitors to take a moment of respite and reflection. The installation is designed to create an intensely personal moment suspended in time.

The installation features laboratory glassware holding jewel-toned fragrances, a nod to the new woody and herbaceous product, Eleos Aromatique body cleanser and lotion, that Aesop launched as part of the installation. The Eleos Aromatique product contains cedarwood, patchouli, and clove, offering a unique scent experience.

Guests can wash their hands in the new Eleos scent at sinks similar to those found in Aesop's boutiques. For a more immersive experience, Eleos Aromatique hand and arm massages are offered in the Capsule of Respite, a recessed room furnished with Italian design icons.

The installation is inspired by a Milanese icon and is designed to resemble pushing the door of a city entranceway, according to Lardilleux. The installation includes moulds of torsos created by Parisian artist Victoria Punturere, polished in Eleos, adding to the immersive, thoughtful engagement with skin and body care.

Milan Design Week is famously democratic and open to all, making Aesop's installation accessible to a wide audience. As the official 'Sensory Patron' of Milan Design Week 2025, Aesop's The Second Skin offers a multisensory sanctuary experience, described as an immersive exploration of dermis and design.

Visitors are encouraged to engage in a calm, reflective environment where the physical senses—especially touch and smell—are foregrounded. The installation blends aesthetics and materiality in a way that reimagines the relationship between self-care rituals and spatial experience.

The installation will be open to the public from April 8th to 13th, 2025. For those seeking a moment of respite and reflection during Milan Design Week, Aesop's The Second Skin is a must-visit destination.
