Angola's First Tier III Data Centre Opens, Boosting Connectivity and Sustainability

Angola's digital landscape has welcomed a significant boost with the opening of Raxio Angola, the country's first commercial data centre built to Tier III standards. Situated in Cacuaco, Luanda Province, this state-of-the-art facility is set to revolutionise the nation's connectivity and data management.

Raxio Angola, a project by Raxio Group, is strategically located near the region's primary undersea cable landing stations. This prime positioning ensures low-latency connectivity and efficient data transmission. The data centre boasts an impressive capacity, capable of delivering up to 3 megawatts of IT power and accommodating over 800 server racks.

Designed with sustainability in mind, Raxio Angola is 70% powered by renewable energy. It also features an on-site water treatment plant, enabling water recycling and reuse. This eco-friendly approach aligns with the growing demand for energy-efficient data centres.

The facility is carrier-neutral, allowing customers to interconnect with multiple network and internet service providers. This flexibility ensures diverse connectivity options and promotes competition among service providers. Furthermore, Raxio Angola is powered by two independent dedicated substations and backup systems, guaranteeing uninterrupted service.

Notably, Raxio Angola will serve as the host site for Angola's Internet Exchange Point (IXP). This will significantly enhance local internet traffic exchange, reducing dependency on international connections and improving overall internet performance within the country.

Raxio Angola's inauguration marks a significant milestone in Angola's digital transformation. With its advanced infrastructure, energy-efficient design, and strategic location, this data centre is poised to drive growth in the country's tech sector. As the host of Angola's IXP, it will also play a pivotal role in enhancing local internet connectivity and performance.
