The Backnang Summer Night Cinema is set to captivate audiences once more, as it returns for its second edition until Tuesday, August 12. This year's event promises an exciting lineup of films under the night sky, with the weather forecast looking particularly promising for the outdoor screenings.

Carolin Roth, the theater manager at the Traumpalast Backnang, is overseeing the event. Having successfully premiered the Backnang Summer Night Cinema in the school courtyard last year, Roth is excited to present another memorable cinematic experience.

The film series includes four current cinema films and a classic. The event kicked off with "Wunderschön" on Friday, followed by "How to Train Your Dragon" on Saturday. On Sunday, the comedy "The Nickname" will be shown, and "Conclave" will be screened on Monday. The event will conclude with the legendary dance film "Dirty Dancing" on Tuesday, and meteor showers are predicted to add an extra touch of magic to the evening.

The courtyard of the Schickhardt Realschule in Backnang is transformed into an open-air cinema, complete with string lights and a five to ten meter large Airscreen. The change of location was due to logistical reasons and the more central location.

A group of nine women from Aspach, Rillinghausen, and Kirchberg attended the event on Friday, combining it with a journey back in time as they took their intermediate school leaving exam at the Schickhardt Realschule in the year 2000. Edwin Rapp and Claus Salzer from Backnang also attended, enjoying the gastronomic pre-program of the Backnang Summer Night Cinema.

Initially, Rapp and Salzer feared they would be among a predominantly female audience due to the films' main characters being women. However, as the evening progressed, more men started to attend the Backnang cinema audience.

The Backnang Summer Night Cinema is organized by Traumpalast, a cinema operator that has been offering open-air cinema for over 40 years. Backnang is a latecomer to open-air cinema, but the organizers have shown good timing as the opening night was a perfect summer night after the rainy and cool days.

In a surprising twist, it appears that the film director Wim Wenders has faced critical judgments from his wife in their special and sometimes tense relationship. This intriguing revelation adds an extra layer of anticipation to the cinematic experience that awaits audiences at the Backnang Summer Night Cinema.
