Globe Media Excellence Awards Embrace Digital Inclusion with "Digitally Forward: One Barangay at a Time" Theme
The 12th edition of the Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA@12) is set to honour journalism and storytelling that highlight the transformative power of technology in micro-communities. The focus of this year's event, "Digitally Forward: One Barangay at a Time," emphasizes grassroots empowerment and digital inclusion.
The theme aligns closely with the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) agenda on digital inclusion, both aiming to bring technology access and opportunities to disadvantaged and underserved communities at the local, barangay (village) level. The competition honours storytellers who embody purpose, integrity, and truth, thereby supporting a future where no one is left behind—mirroring the DICT’s commitment to inclusive digital development.
GMEA@12 invites media practitioners and content creators from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to submit work published or aired between September 2024 and August 2025. The submission period runs from July 21 to August 31, 2025, with the submission portal going live on July 30, 2025, on http://globe.com.ph.
The awards ceremony covers topics related to Corporate Responsibility and regions within the Philippines. GMEA@12 includes categories related to awards, journalism, and inclusion. Special Awards will only be given to First Place winners in various categories.
The Newsmaker of the Year, Editor of the Year, and Globe of Good Story of the Year (formerly known as Kwentong Tagumpay Community) are categories in GMEA@12. Digital Storytelling categories include Best Blog Post and Best Social Media Video. Integrated Media categories include Online News Report of the Year, Photo of the Year, Radio News Report of the Year, and TV News Report of the Year.
Entries for GMEA will be judged based on content, storytelling style, impact, and integration. GMEA@12 strengthens Globe's commitment to inclusive nation-building by amplifying voices that help move the country forward, one story and one barangay at a time.
