Baltimore honors decade of Motor House, a cherished creative centerpiece
Motor House, a beloved creative hub in Baltimore, is gearing up for its 10-year anniversary celebration. Organised by Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation (BARC), the event promises a two-day cultural extravaganza, filled with runway shows, workshops, panel discussions, and more, from August 15-16, 2025.
The festivities will take place at Motor House, located at 120 W. North Avenue, Baltimore, MD. Key events include a networking party and vendor fair, sustainable fashion workshops, a brunch, a fashion history panel, a runway fashion show, and an after-party celebrating creative self-expression. Most events are free or low-cost and open to the public. Tickets and schedules can be found on the Motor House official website and partner event pages.
Highlights of the celebration include the showcasing of emerging designers, local artists, and Baltimore’s vibrant creative community spirit. The anniversary follows a recent incident where the building was damaged but quickly reopened, making the celebration even more meaningful to the community.
One of the featured creatives during the events is Caprece Ann Jackson, a sustainable fashion curator and ambassador. Evette Monique, a rising designer who has showcased at Milan and London fashion weeks, was also part of the celebration.
The culminating event on November 1 will feature a screening of the full short documentary in the Black Box Theatre at Motor House.
In the lead-up to the anniversary, artists showcased their work through various means, including runway shows, workshops, lectures, and community programming. Jessica Smith, the managing director of Motor House, stated that the incident has brought the community together.
Smith also mentioned that the incident has sparked discussions about the future possibilities and reimagining of Motor House. On Saturday, an upcycling workshop was held, led by sustainable fashion designers, wearable artists, and makers.
Motor House, located in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District, has been a cornerstone of Baltimore's creative community since it was founded by BARC in 2015. For ongoing updates or social media content, you can refer to BARCO’s Instagram posts about the events.
Upcoming events for Motor House's 10-year anniversary include a VIP reception on October 9, a public celebration on October 10, and a culminating event on November 1. The organisers view overcoming the obstacle posed by the car accident as making the anniversary event even more special.
