The Saatchi Gallery in London is currently hosting a captivating exhibition titled "Flowers: Flora in Contemporary Art & Culture." This large-scale show, supported by Cazenove Capital and Buccellati, delves into the enduring influence of flowers on art, culture, and creativity.

Spanning two floors and nine major gallery spaces, the exhibition features over 500 artworks by around 150 artists across various disciplines such as painting, photography, fashion, jewelry, installation, and video art.

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by Sophie Mess's vast floral mural, Journey of Progress. Other notable works include Anne von Freyburg's textile wall sculptures, Jo Grogan's ceramic tulips, and the Carter Brothers' sculptural bronze tribute to Van Gogh’s Sunflowers.

The exhibition also showcases floral-inspired fashion with a punk twist by Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood, and rare orchids and daisies in jewelry by Mario and Gianmaria Buccellati. A highlight is an haute couture 2024 wedding dress by Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli, adorned with three-dimensional hand-painted leather flowers.

In addition, the exhibition includes collaborations with brands and designers such as MariMekko, Mary Quant, Buccellati, and Morrison Co, enriching the narrative around floral art, identity, fragility, and beauty.

The exhibition begins by exploring the roots of floral art, featuring work from the last sixty years, and progresses through to contemporary expressions. Highlights include the installation "La Fleur Morte" (2025) by Rebecca Louise Law, which features more than 100,000 dried flowers hanging from the ceiling.

There is also a gallery dedicated to the medical properties of plants, and an interactive digital garden by Miguel Chevalier, where artificial blooms bend and sway according to your position in the room.

Charlotte Mullins, an art critic, writer, and broadcaster, is associated with the exhibition. Her latest book, The Art Isles: A 15,000 year story of art in the British Isles, will be published by Yale University Press in October 2025.

The exhibition runs from February 12, 2025, and extends until August 31, 2025, making it a significant cultural event connecting floral natural imagery with contemporary artistic expressions. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty and history of floral art at the Saatchi Gallery.

This extensive exhibition, titled "Flowers: Flora in Contemporary Art & Culture," at London's Saatchi Gallery is not only an exploration of art and culture but also a journey into home-and-garden-inspired creations. The showcase covers various disciplines, including fashion, where Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood presents floral-inspired punk attire, and jewelry by Mario and Gianmaria Buccellati featuring rare orchids and daisies.
