Bristol Boosts EV Adoption with 300+ New Charging Points

Bristol City Council's transport chiefs have ambitious plans to boost electric vehicle (EV) adoption. A £4.9 million investment, financed by the combined authority's green recovery fund, aims to install over 300 charging points across the West of England region this summer, with 187 in Bristol alone.

The project, set to cost £4.9 million, will see 11 community charging points, 26 destination charging points, and 150 residential street charging points installed in Bristol. Labour Councillor Kye Dudd, cabinet member for housing and energy services, confirmed the rollout will prioritise community charging hubs, destination charging points, and street residential charging points. Councillor Don Alexander, responsible for transport, ensured the needs of people with disabilities will be considered during installations.

With over 300 charging points planned across the West of England, Bristol City Council hopes to boost confidence in electric vehicle charging and encourage more people to make the switch. The £4.9 million investment, funded by the combined authority's green recovery fund, is set to transform the region's EV infrastructure this summer.
