Businesses in County Herford Catering to Families
In the heart of Germany, the Municipality of Kirchlengern once again took part in the prestigious 'Family-Friendly Company 2025' award. This year, they joined 51 other companies, a significant increase from the 9 applicants in 2015.
The award, presented by OstWestfalenLippe GmbH in cooperation with several other organisations, recognises companies with family-friendly personnel policies that develop individual measures to support families. Among the honourees were established names like Kortemeier Brokmann Landschaftsarchitekten GmbH, Brax Leineweber GmbH & Co. KG, Terra Connect GmbH, ProElectrify AG, and BUDICH Group, who reapplied for the award.
First-time applicants included DTS Systeme GmbH, EANCON GmbH & Co. KG, GARDINIA Home Decor GmbH, and MIT Moderne Industrietechnik GmbH & Co. KG, who made a repeat application this year.
Björn Boker, Managing Director of OstWestfalenLippe GmbH, emphasised the importance of work-family-care balance, stating that companies serious about this balance gain motivated employees and strengthen their competitiveness.
The awarding process involved written applications, online presentations, company visits, and a decision by a nine-member jury. This year, a total of 48 companies were honoured for their commitment to balancing family, care, and work.
County Commissioner Jürgen Müller noted the increase in applications, stating that family-friendliness is increasingly important in Herford. He expressed his delight at the growing number of companies recognising the value of family-friendly policies.
While the exact number of first-time and repeat applicants this year was not specified, it is clear that the 'Family-Friendly Company 2025' award continues to inspire companies to implement measures such as home office, flexible working hours, subsidies for childcare, family summer festivals, company vehicles or cargo bikes, and free tickets for concerts or sports events.
The 'Family-Friendly Company 2025' award was presented on 10.09.2025 in Herford, marking another successful year for companies committed to family-friendly practices.
