Charity art auction held in Iðnó today, funding raised to aid refugee children
Saturday's Event in Iðnó: Supporting Refugee Kids Through Art and Music
Mark your calendars for this Saturday, December 17th, from 2-4pm, as we gather in the vibrant city of Iðnó for an exceptional Art Auction with a heartwarming purpose. This event offers the perfect opportunity to invest in stunning pieces of art, enjoy live musical performances, and make a difference in the lives of refugee children.
Many talented artists from all corners of the globe have come together to contribute to this cause. Don't miss your chance to bid on remarkable works by famous artists such as Guðjón Ketilsson, Marit Trönqvist, Hallgrímur Helgason, Þrándur Þórarinsson, Tinna Þorvalds, Annadóttir, Baldur Helgason, Þorvaldur Jónsson, and Mireja Samper, among others.
Moreover, this event provides an exceptional platform for rising stars and new artists to showcase their talents, all while contributing to a worthy cause.
It's not just about the art, though. Esther Þorvaldsdóttir, one of the founders of Rights for Refugee Children, aims to shed light on the crucial issue of child rights violations. "Our activities focus on ensuring that the Icelandic government complies with the Convention on the Rights of the Child better than it does," she explains.
The organization works diligently to provide legal assistance to refugee children, ensuring that each case is handled properly and that their rights are respected. "We have over 60 children on our list, and it takes a tremendous amount of money to ensure they receive the proper legal procedure," Esther adds.
To make the event even more unforgettable, we’ll have music from local artists Ásgeir Trausti and Sigríður Thorlacius gracing our ears. So gather your friends, stretch those bidding fingers, and come ready to contribute to this fantastic cause while immersing yourself in the vibrant world of art and music!
