Christian Democrats petition dog owners due to issues arising from canines on grassy fields
The Issue with Fido's Leavings at the Jahn Stadium
It seems the Jahn stadium has become a hotspot for canine messes, leaving citizens squirming in their shoes. Local councilman Michael Brücker confirms this, stating that over 400 meters of the stadium's green areas are plagued with piles of doggy doo-doo, equating to two-thirds of a ten-liter bucket – that's just not right!
Brücker and his CDU colleague Schrölkamp are urging dog owners to show a little more responsibility and clean up after their furry friends. After all, hundreds of kids play, frolic, and train there every day. We don't want any unwelcome surprises when we step out for a stroll. If everyone chippers in and takes their part, it's a breeze to keep things tidy.
This isn't an isolated incident. Across neighborhoods, there are places that seemingly serve as dog toilets, with the accompanying excrement not being cleaned up. Similar issues have been reported in Neusserfurth. In Brücker's constituency, the situation is just as dire: restricted space, playing children, and dogs in need, always leading to difficult discussions during the 'Clean Up' days.
Perhaps dog owners need a swift kick in the right direction. But what can the city do to motivate these individuals to keep our parks clean? The town hall states that the public order office frequently inspects green areas throughout the city. Neglecting to pick up after your pooch could land you a fine of at least 75 euros, and non-compliance with the leash requirement can also result in hefty penalties. After all, when master lets his dog roam free on the meadow, the "leftovers" are sometimes forgotten...
Reporting issues like dog excrement on green areas is a breeze. You can do so using the fault reporter, with the responsible departments promising prompt removal. To access the fault reporter, simply visit https://mm.itk-rheinland.de/index.php?id=21.
Now, Brücker and his CDU colleagues are hoping for a new wave of understanding from previously complacent and unaware dog owners. But what else can be done to encourage these individuals to clean up? Education and awareness campaigns, incentives like free waste bags and discounts at pet stores, community clean-up events, and regular monitoring by authorities may just do the trick. And remember, fines ranging from €20 to €100 (or more) could be the consequence of neglect.
Let's all work together to make our green spaces a clean and pleasant place for everybody – pets, kids, and adults alike! After all, a clean park is a happy park.

Pro Tip: Education is key, so make sure you're aware of the rules in your local park regarding pet waste and leashes. Additionally, carrying waste bags at all times is a simple way to be a responsible pet owner. By doing our part, we can ensure our parks remain clean and enjoyable for all.
In the spirit of maintaining a clean and enjoyable park for all, including pets, it's essential for every pet owner to show responsibility and clean up after their pets, especially in public spaces like home-and-garden areas, parks, and other recreational facilities. Neglecting this duty can lead to fines and a less comfortable lifestyle for everyone using these spaces.
