Euskirchen, Germany, is set to host a day filled with history and culture on September 14th, 2025. Here's what you can expect.

The Honor Cemetery, located on Frauenberger Straße, will open its doors to visitors. Established in 1887 and inaugurated in 1954, this memorial site honours the fallen of World War I and the war dead of 1936-1945. The cemetery consists of various war graves and memorials, including a simple gravestone of greywacke for the unknown war dead, a stele of Muschelkalk for the Russian fallen, and a three-part gravestone wall for the Polish fallen.

Guided tours on topics such as "80 Years After the War in Euskirchen" and "War Graves Care - Insights into a Cultural Remembrance Task" will be available at the Honor Cemetery. For those seeking refreshments, the Café Paradise is open at the Honor Cemetery.

The Evangelical Church, rebuilt in 1952 after the war, will also be open to the public on Cologne Street. From the top of the church tower, visitors can enjoy a unique view of the city of Euskirchen. Guided tours of the Evangelical Church will be available hourly, starting from 11 am, with the last tour starting at 4 pm.

The CASINO e.V. cultural and support association will open the halls and cellars of the "Casino" society house, located on Kaplan-Kellermann-Str.1, corner of Veybach Street. The "Casino" society house, rebuilt in the Art Deco style in 1928, will be open on September 14th, 2025, with a piano concert scheduled in the large hall at 4 pm.

The "Prussian Locomotive Shed", built in 1885 on Ost Street 2a, will also be open on September 14th, 2025. Many other locomotives will be open for viewing, including the special locomotive, the "Zucker-Susi". The Eisenbahnfreunde Euskirchen e.V. will provide information about the "Zucker-Susi" and other locomotives on display.

In addition, the special exhibition "Rebirth in Peace. Euskirchen 1945-1961" is on display at the Euskirchen City Museum. Visitors can also explore the exhibition "Cloth to Cloth - the History of Euskirchen Textile Manufacturers" in the former mourning hall.

Admission is free for all events in Euskirchen. Information material is available at the info stand of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V., North Rhine-Westphalia branch. The ecumenical project "Living Cemetery" is also presented at the Honor Cemetery.
