In the heart of Luenen, the city library played host to a momentous event on September 6, 2025 - the inaugural Baby and Family Fair. Organised by the "Early Support" network, the fair was themed "#Hello_Family!" and aimed to provide valuable information about pregnancy, childbirth, and the initial months with a newborn.

Over 120 visitors attended the fair, eager to gather insights and resources for their upcoming or existing family journeys. The event was held between 10 am and 1 pm, offering a comprehensive morning of learning and engagement.

A variety of experts were present to share their knowledge and skills. Midwives, specialists in parent-child courses, child daycare, family sponsorships, a pediatrician, a baby sleep coach, and experts in infant first aid were all on hand to offer advice and guidance.

In addition to the informative sessions, the fair offered a range of activities to entertain and educate. Crafting activities, play stations, a "Siblings Diploma", waffles, and balloons were just some of the offerings that made the day enjoyable for all.

The Dortmund Children's Protection Association also made a significant contribution, providing a virtual reality headset to draw attention to potential hazards in the home. This innovative approach aimed to highlight the importance of child safety in a fun and engaging way.

Despite the lack of information about the head of the "Early Support" network involved in organising the event, the Baby and Family Fair in Luenen was a resounding success. It marked a valuable step forward in supporting families in the city and beyond, and it is hoped that it will become an annual fixture on the Luenen calendar.
