In a recent study conducted by Yuga.ru, Krasnodar has been named the most pet-friendly city in Russia, boasting an impressive 18.9% of cafes and restaurants that welcome furry companions. This puts Krasnodar in the top spot, surpassing Moscow, which ranks third with 13.7% pet-friendly establishments.

The study, carried out in honour of International Dog Day on July 2, also revealed that Ekaterinburg and Krasnoyarsk are among the top three most pet-friendly cities in Russia, following Moscow in the million-plus cities category. Saint Petersburg follows Krasnodar with 17.6% pet-friendly cafes and restaurants.

Interestingly, despite a ban on pets in public places in Krasnodar, the city still leads in pet-friendly cafes and restaurants. However, the reasons for this high number of pet-friendly establishments are not entirely clear. It is speculated that the demand from tourists, a strategic business move to attract more customers, local regulations permitting pets in certain establishments, and community support for pet owners could all be contributing factors.

The geospatial analytics service 2GIS identified the most pet-friendly cities and dog-friendly establishments in Russia. However, the study does not directly address the question of why Krasnodar might have a higher number of pet-friendly establishments compared to other cities.

One concern shared by many cities in Russia, including Krasnodar, is the shortage of vaccines for pets. This shortage has been a significant issue in Krasnodar, as well as in other cities across the country.

Despite these challenges, Moscow remains the most comfortable city to live in with a dog, with 88% of residents living within a 15-minute walk from essential dog-related points and services. This makes Moscow a convenient city for dog owners, ensuring they have easy access to necessary amenities for their pets.

In conclusion, Krasnodar's status as Russia's most pet-friendly city is a testament to the city's commitment to catering to pet owners. However, the reasons for this are not entirely clear and require further investigation. The ongoing vaccine shortage for pets is a concern that needs to be addressed to ensure the health and safety of pets in Krasnodar and other cities across Russia.

Despite Krasnodar's ban on pets in public places, it has a high number of pet-friendly home-and-garden establishments, such as cafes and restaurants, demonstrating the city's supportive lifestyle for pet owners. The reasons for this high number of pet-friendly spaces could be due to factors like tourist demand, strategic business decisions, local regulations, and community support.
