Artist Andrei Liankevich Showcases Disappearing Belarusian Interiors at nEUROPA Gallery

In Dresden, the nEUROPA Gallery is set to host an exhibition by Belarusian photographer Andrei Liankevich, focusing on the disappearing traditional interiors of Belarusian houses. The exhibition, titled "Traditional Belarusian Interiors", runs from August 1 to November 3, 2025, and includes over 100 images capturing both the interiors and the inhabitants, often depicted in traditional everyday clothing.

Liankevich's work serves as a visual archive of a vanishing lifestyle, highlighting the intersection of tradition and modern change in Belarusian culture. The project aims to create a digital, online archive where users can contribute their own photos of traditional interiors, expanding the collection and supporting further research into Belarusian life and customs. This participatory archive is intended as a foundation for studying Belarusian heritage and everyday living environments.

Born in 1981 in Grodno and based in Minsk, Andrei Liankevich is an acclaimed Belarusian photographer with international recognition. He has worked with agencies like European Press Photo Agency and been featured in major media worldwide, including The New York Times, Le Figaro, Newsweek, Die Zeit, Der Spiegel, GEO, Vanity Fair, Reader's Digest, and the International Herald Tribune.

The exhibition at nEUROPA Gallery is curated by Matthias Schumann and includes a vernissage on August 1 and a special opening on August 2, where the artist will be present. The gallery, located at Bautzner Straße 49, Dresden, offers free entry.

In addition to the exhibition, a pop-up event will take place at the Neumarkt in Dresden on August 5, 2025, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. This event includes a workshop and a visit from Atlas, the clown, who will also be in Dresden on August 5. A discussion on Atlas's project will take place at the nEUROPA gallery at 7 pm on August 5.

This exhibition connects deeply to the Belarusian lifestyle by preserving visual evidence of interior spaces and traditional dress, thus offering insight into the cultural identity and transformation within Belarus. For more information, visit kulturaktiv.org/galerie-neuropa.
