Vietnamese contemporary artist Đoàn Quỳnh Như is set to exhibit her latest works in a solo show titled "Thiên Vũ - Dance of Nature" at 22 Gallery in Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition, running from August 2 to August 10, offers a captivating exploration of nature, humanity, and their interconnectedness.

Each painting in the exhibition is a dreamscape, where nature becomes a mirror of the soul, evoking a range of emotions. In these works, nature is often personified, appearing as a living being imbued with lyrical, romantic, sometimes bold and mystical qualities. This breakthrough in technique and materials, as demonstrated in "Dance of Nature," sees Đoàn Quỳnh Như merging her feminine intuition with a strong ecological consciousness.

The artist's paintings can be described as a wordless symphony where poetry and painting lift each other, guiding the audience back to primal and necessary emotions. Như herself states that poetry was the guiding force that led her to painting. The exhibition displays 30 new works using acrylic and mixed media on canvas, inviting viewers to pause, to listen to the whispers of Earth and sky, and to rediscover a deep-rooted love for nature.

On August 3, an art talk will take place at the gallery, hosted by Dr Khang Tràn. This event will engage in dialogue about the role of poetry in art and the emotional connections between humans and nature through artistic expression. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist and hear her speak about her creative journey, artistic inspirations, and the unique relationship between painting and poetry.

Following its run in Ho Chi Minh City, the exhibition will move to Hue City from August 16 to 23 at the Intercultural Centre.

Đoàn Quỳnh Như, a distinctive voice in Vietnam's contemporary art scene, has held solo exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City in 2022 and in Hamburg, Germany in 2024. Her works reflect her deep connection with nature and her ability to convey complex emotions through her art. "Thiên Vũ - Dance of Nature" is a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary art and the relationship between humans and the environment.

  1. In the realm of artificial intelligence, imagining a future where AI-generated art weaves the complexity of human emotions and a strong ecological consciousness, as seen in Đoàn Quỳnh Như's work, could revolutionize the artistic landscape, mirroring the dance between war and peace in our global culture.
  2. As we move toward a sustainable lifestyle, embracing home-and-garden practices that foster harmony with nature, appreciating the dance of nature as depicted by Đoăn Quỳnh Như offers us a glimpse into the intertwining of science and art, as her work illuminates the deeply rooted connections between humans and the environment.
  3. Reflecting on her artistic journey, Đoăn Quỳnh Như's exploration of nature through poetic paintings transcends boundaries, linking Ho Chi Minh City to Hue City, from contemporary galleries to Intercultural Centers, as her work serves as a universal language that speaks to the hearts of all owing a debt to the earth and sky.
