The charming town of Neustadt is preparing for its annual Piepe Lantern Procession, a much-anticipated event that brings together the community in a beautiful display of solidarity and festivity.
This year, the procession is set to take place on Friday, November 15th, starting from the Werdersee. The meeting point will be the kiosk near the Deichschart, close to the "Kirchweg" tram stop.
The event, organised by the Neustadt neighbourhood management and Martinsclub Bremen e.V., promises an evening filled with inclusivity, entertainment, and camaraderie. Julia Renke from the Martinsclub emphasises the event's inclusive nature, welcoming all participants, including those in wheelchairs.
Lanterns for the event can be purchased at various retail stores in Neustadt, with specially designed ones available for a donation of three to seven euros. The procession will follow the Kleine Weser, offering a picturesque backdrop as children and families carry their lanterns in a parade through town streets. The Bremen Ukulele Orchestra will perform at the farewell event, adding a lively and cheerful atmosphere to the evening.
Fire artist Gordon Ruff will present a mesmerising fire show at 6 PM, providing an exciting spectacle for all attendees. Police, fire, and Johanniter vehicles will also be open for viewing, offering a unique opportunity for the community to engage with local services.
Sparkasse Bremen provides financial support for the Piepe lantern event, ensuring its continued success and growth. Astrid-Verena Dietze from Neustadt neighbourhood management expresses high motivation for the event following last year's strong turnout.
Upon arrival at the Piepe, a farewell event with hot drinks and snacks will take place from 5:30 PM, providing a warm and welcoming conclusion to the evening's festivities.
