Stein City Library Receives "Bookmark" Sponsorship
The Stein City Library has been honoured as one of the 50 libraries in Bavaria to receive sponsorship from Bayernwerk Netz's annual "Bookmark" campaign. This initiative, now in its 19th year, is focused on fostering a love for reading and strengthening education through public libraries.
The "Bookmark" campaign supports public libraries by providing resources to enhance their offerings and outreach. It encourages more people, especially children and young readers, to visit libraries and develop a habit of reading. By backing libraries, the campaign helps create better educational opportunities, making learning more accessible and appealing.
Ralf Schwarz, representing Bayernwerk, presented the prize to library director Andrea Trommer. The voucher, worth 1,000 euros, is intended to be used for the acquisition of various forms of media, not just books. The focus of the new acquisitions is to expand the range for children and young people.
The presentation took place in the library's premises, with the first mayor of the city, Kurt Kroemer, also present. The selection of winners for the "Bookmark" initiative is done by an expert jury in cooperation with the Bavarian State Library and the Saint Michaelsbund.
The "Bookmark" initiative has been a long-standing program by Bayernwerk Netz, aiming to strengthen public libraries as cornerstones of education. It underlines the importance of public educational institutions in communities and fosters a strong relationship between the company, libraries, and local communities.
