Event Advances Charity Donations and Commemorates Halloween with 5K Run
The Holy Cross Campus Recreation department organised a 5-kilometer run last weekend to celebrate Halloween, with the event being a part of the university's celebrations both on campus and in Worcester.
The run, which looped around the campus from Hogan to the Jo to Brooks and back again, attracted many participants who donated $20 each to take part. In return, they received a t-shirt and an unforgettable experience.
Patrick Ryan '27 and Trey Lacandula '27 were among those who participated in the run. The duo enjoyed the experience, describing it as fun, spooky, challenging, and a great way to spend time with friends. Lacandula, however, mentioned he could do without the hills in the run.
Scary decorations were placed along the run to add to the Halloween atmosphere. The finish line was a large, decorated arc for participants to run through, providing a thrilling end to the race.
The Halloween Charity event was open to all Holy Cross students and raised money for three local charities: Abby's House, Mustard Seed, and Why Me?. The exact amount raised has not been disclosed yet.
In other news, the Holy Cross basketball teams played back-to-back last week, with the entire campus anxious to watch the games to support their teams.
Meanwhile, the men's swim team's performance was recently featured in The Boston Globe.
Campus Rec has indicated they will be hosting more runs in the future, so keep an eye out for more exciting events. Unfortunately, information about which organisations were supported by the Halloween Charity 5K Run organised by Campus Recreations could not be found in the search results.
In addition to the run, Holy Cross also hosted the Dialogue Dinner, an event geared towards debate and discussion among the campus community. More details about the Dialogue Dinner can be found on the Holy Cross website.
