Expanded Permanent Parking Spots Count Rises from May Onward
In the heart of Ahlen, a change has taken place at the city's bike hub. On May 5, DasDies Service GmbH, a subsidiary of Awo, took over operation of the bike hub from Caritas. Since then, the hub has seen a series of updates and improvements, making it a more attractive and efficient service for cyclists.
The bike hub, a crucial part of the Ahlen Station Mobility Hub, now offers a wider range of services. Stefan Rose, operations manager of DasDies Service GmbH, reported that 321 service customers have utilized repair and maintenance services at Ahlen Station in the past three months. The hub now includes e-bike rental options and refurbished used bikes, making it more accessible to a broader range of cyclists.
Lars Rehbein, Marco Ewald, and master bike mechanic Lukas Wegrzyn are among the employees of DasDies who are available daily for all services and consultations related to bicycles. The city's climate protection and mobility department, headed by Klaudia Froede, and project engineer Frank Buntrock, have expressed satisfaction with the positive interim results of the bike hub.
The bike hub is a key component of Ahlen's sustainable mobility efforts. It is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm and will be present at Ahlen's Sattelfest and Environmental Day, as well as the Summer Festival of the Westfalen Mine Support Association, with a mobile bike cleaning machine and information about its services.
DasDies, not only provides a service for cyclists but also offers training opportunities for young talent at the bike hub. The company operates the hub as a service for cyclists and provides jobs for people with disabilities. Maciej Kozlowski, the managing director of DasDies Service GmbH, leads the team in this mission.
With nine bike stations in total, DasDies Service GmbH is making strides in promoting sustainable mobility across various locations. The availability of up-to-date information about the Ahlen Bike Hub following the operator change, however, remains limited. Nonetheless, the positive impact of DasDies' management is evident in the increased number of long-term parkers at the station, with the city announcing an increase to 174 since May.
