Experience the Lively Kadayawan Ambiance at SM Shopping Center
In the heart of Davao City, the vibrant Kadayawan Festival 2025 is unfolding with a flurry of cultural and artistic activities at SM City Davao and SM Lanang.
During this year's festivities, both malls serve as cultural hubs, hosting a series of events that celebrate the diversity, artistry, and traditions of Davao's indigenous and ethnolinguistic groups.
At SM City Davao, the Hiyas sa Kadayawan 2025 presentation, showcasing cultural highlights and traditional heritage, has already taken place. The main event, however, is the Southern Weave Kadayawan 2025 Fashion Show, scheduled for August 17 at The Annex Event Center. This runway event, presented by the Davao Junior Fashion Designers, promises to highlight Mindanao’s vibrant heritage and artistry through fashion inspired by indigenous weaving and cultural motifs.
Meanwhile, SM Lanang offers its own array of attractions. The Durian Festival, an indispensable part of the Kadayawan celebrations, is being held at the mall's North Wing grounds from August 12 - September 14. This marks the 11th year of the Durian Festival at SM Lanang.
Large, colourful installations can be found in both malls during the Kadayawan season, providing a festive backdrop for shoppers who can enjoy vibrant hues and Kadayawan beats throughout their shopping experience.
Live performances are also a major draw. Arthur Miguel and MATÉO will perform live at SM Lanang during the Kadayawan season, with homegrown talents taking centre stage at the North Wing Grounds from August 15 to 17.
Art enthusiasts, on the other hand, can visit "An Exposition with the Masters," an art exhibit by Anthony Fermin, at The Atrium, SM Lanang, from August 15 to 19.
The celebrations at SM City Davao and SM Lanang are not limited to these events. The malls' newest expansion wing, designed by renowned Filipino architect Royal Pineda, houses new "firsts" like Gashapon Bandai, Puffy's, and Nanyang, adding to the overall festive atmosphere.
Moreover, SM Lanang features a 17-meter high "Visions of Paradise," the first and largest indoor LED screen in Mindanao, providing an immersive visual experience for visitors.
