Exploration of artistic and cultural aspects
The Art Dementia Community 2025 exhibition is set to open its doors at Martinushaus, Treibgasse 26, from September 18 to October 16. This unique exhibition is the culmination of a collaborative project between Sarah Brendecke, the Education Office of the City of Aschaffenburg, and the Faculty of Design at the University of Applied Sciences Wuerzburg-Schweinfurt.
The project, which took place at the Education Office from July to August, aimed to address the challenges of home care for people with dementia, support for caregivers, and the question of whether creative engagement significantly contributes to the well-being of people with dementia. Volunteers attended workshops during this period, gaining valuable experience in interacting with people with dementia.
The Art Dementia Community 2025 exhibition offers a space for encounter, creativity, and understanding, forming a network that supports caregivers and enables social participation. The artworks displayed will be created by people with dementia, showcasing their unique talents and the power of creative engagement.
The exhibition is free to attend and will be open from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 12 PM, and from Monday to Thursday, 1 PM to 4 PM. Guided tours will take place on September 25, October 2, and October 7. To register for these tours, visit https://education-office.ticketmachine.de/de.
In addition to the exhibition, a documentary film about the project is being created by a professional film team. The vernissage (opening event) will take place on September 17 at 5 PM, followed by a preview of the documentary film at 6 PM. For more information about the project and Sarah Brendecke, visit www.art-dementia.de.
Information about dementia and caregiver situations will also be provided at the exhibition. The meetings create a supportive environment for caregivers, offering valuable insights and resources. The Art Dementia Community 2025 exhibition is a testament to the power of art and creativity in supporting people with dementia and their caregivers.
