Explore Earth from Above: Hans Strand's Aerial Masterpieces at City Museum
The city museum is hosting a captivating exhibition, 'Earth - Photographs by Hans Strand', which showcases the Swedish photographer's stunning aerial images. Guided tours are available on select dates in June and July 2021, offering visitors a unique perspective on Strand's work.
Hans Strand, who dedicated his life to photography from 1990, first flew in a Cessna over the Icelandic landscape in 2000. His fascination with aerial photography began earlier, sparked by a book by German photographer Klaus Francke. Strand's first landscape photos were taken in Yosemite National Park during a study stay in the USA in the early 1980s. The exhibition features three series - Iceland, Sweden, and Spain - highlighting human impact on the landscape, such as mining in the Rio Tinto. The tours will delve into Strand's work, which includes over 100 flight hours capturing extraordinary natural events like volcanic eruptions and Icelandic glaciers.
Registration for the guided tours is required via email at stadtmuseum@our website or by phone at 02173 794 4410. The tours take place on June 22, June 29, July 11, and July 15, 2021. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the world from a new perspective through the lens of Hans Strand.
