## Joe Dooling: Pursuing a Career in Graphic Design with Online Learning

Joe Dooling, a small business manager with a passion for playing drums and a knack for marketing, has embarked on a new journey—earning an Advanced Certificate in Graphic Design. This decision stems from his interest in handling marketing communications for a hardware store, where he discovered his love for graphic design.

Dooling's work schedule is flexible, often involving early mornings, late nights, or days off to accommodate his various jobs. This flexibility has been a significant advantage in his pursuit of online learning. The freedom and flexibility to adjust classes to his own life schedule is the biggest benefit of studying online for Dooling.

Having previous experience with Photoshop, Dooling has expanded his skillset during his time at Sessions, learning Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. The courses at Sessions have greatly improved Dooling's design skills and made him obsessed with the basic principles of design. The instructors at Sessions have helped Dooling train his eye to filter out bad habits from his self-taught techniques.

Dooling's project inspiration process involves extensive research, categorizing ideas, and continuous learning from other designers. He prefers a smaller company with a variety of responsibilities to learn more and build up his experience quickly. Dooling prefers to be part of a team as opposed to freelancing, finding collaboration more fulfilling.

After graduation, Dooling plans to pursue a career focusing on logo design and the marketing aspects of graphic design. He is currently enjoying the challenge of tackling different client project scenarios and building his studies around two jobs and a constantly changing schedule.

Outside of Sessions, Dooling enjoys cooking, going to music concerts, and reading books about psychology or body language. A musical veteran, Dooling has toured Europe with a band for five years, playing drums in nineteen different countries.

As Dooling prepares to enter the graphic design industry, he plans to reach out to Creative Staffing Agencies for an entry-level position as a professional graphic designer. With his newfound skills and passion, Dooling is poised to make a significant impact in the graphic design world.
