Greifswald, Germany - After an exciting 19-month run, the KUNST arcade, located at Muhlenstraße 27/28, is set to close its doors on Saturday, August 23, 2025. The temporary art arcade, launched in 2024 to celebrate the 250th birthday of renowned artist Caspar-David Friedrich, has been a significant hub for contemporary art in Greifswald. Over the past 600 days, the KUNST arcade has presented ten exhibitions, showcasing artists from Greifswald, the region, nationwide, and internationally. These exhibitions included works by students, a selection from the 2025 State Art Exhibition, historical drawings, and diverse contemporary positions. The arcade was a vital part of the cultural program celebrating Caspar-David Friedrich's jubilee. The celebrations marking Friedrich's 250th birthday in Greifswald have concluded, but not without leaving a lasting impact. More than half a million visitors attended the cultural events, making Greifswald a Caspar-David Friedrich city. The Jubilee Office thanks all organizers and visitors for making the diverse cultural program possible. The farewell party for the KUNST arcade will be a memorable event, featuring music, performances, soundscapes, and sound collages in the exhibition "Between Intuition and Certainty: Lena Schmidt and Pauline Stopp".
