A Single Mother and Her Four Daughters in Need of Help After a Devastating House Fire

A tragic event has left a single mother, Berenice Ssnchez, and her four daughters without a home and many of their essential possessions. On August 7, 2025, a fire broke out in their apartment in Surrey, completely destroying their dwelling and all their belongings.

The family was renting the top half of the home, which suffered extensive damage. Unfortunately, they do not have tenant insurance, leaving them to cover all the replacement costs themselves. The mother and daughters were unharmed, but the fire has left them without the basic essentials they rely on.

The daughters, ages 17, 15, 13, and 9, face returning to school soon without necessary items. The family has recently faced hardship after losing the father a few years ago.

A fundraiser has been launched to support Berenice Ssnchez and her children. The initiative was created by their neighbor, Lori Diven, who aims to cover emergency housing, clothes, furniture, household items, groceries, toiletries, school supplies, and school clothes for the family.

If you would like to help, you can find the details and contribute to the online fundraiser for Berenice Ssnchez and her children through this link from Maple Ridge News:

We hope that the community can rally together to support this family in their time of need and help them start anew.

Berenice Ssnchez, a single mother, needs assistance in rebuilding her home-and-garden and providing for her family-dynamics, especially since the general-news of her house fire has left them without essential items. The recent accident and loss of their dwelling, along with their belongings, has caused relationships within the family to be affected as her daughters face returning to school without required items. Lori Diven, their neighbor, has initiated a fundraiser to alleviate this situation by covering emergency housing, clothing, furniture, household items, groceries, toiletries, school supplies, and school clothes for the family, as detailed in the Maple Ridge News.
