Gaia, previously known as "Problem Bearer," has undergone a renaming process.
In a heartwarming move, the Alternative Wolf and Bear Park in Bad Rippoldsau-Schapbach has renamed a bear from Gaia to Luna. The change of name signifies a fresh start and a new chapter in the bear's life.
Luna, previously known as Gaia and JJ4, is now residing in her new home in the Black Forest. The park operators chose to rename her to distance herself from the media coverage associated with her previous name. The name Luna, meaning moon, symbolizes change, calm, and the cycle of new beginnings, reflecting their hopes for the bear's recovery and future.
The bear, who is approximately 20 years old, was transported to Germany under anesthesia in late July. A high-security enclosure, costing around one million euros, has been built specifically for Luna. The park team hopes that Luna will find her own peaceful rhythm, despite the tumultuous years and injustices she has faced.
Luna gained international attention after a tragic incident in Italy in 2023. The park operators aim to help Luna's rehabilitation with her new name and provide her with a fresh start in the Black Forest. They also aim to restore Luna's reputation.
The moon, as represented by Luna's name, symbolizes change, peace, and new beginnings. The park wishes for Luna to embody these qualities in her new environment. The bear's new name at the Alternative Bear Park is a testament to their commitment to giving her a second chance.
