Garden's blooming phase successfully concluded

The Neuss Botanical Garden has undergone an expansion, transforming the city's greenery in a significant way. The first phase of the construction, completed in 2017, led to the development of a Quartiersplatz, a new square within the garden.

The entrance area at Bergheimer Straße was redesigned during the first phase, while the pedestrian access to the Botanical Garden remains separate from the operating area. A new entrance from Körnerstraße now allows direct access to the garden.

A staircase provides access to the higher-lying garden area, and the northern side of the square is formed by the facade of the old greenhouse. A steel pergola forms the western edge of the square, providing shade and a unique architectural feature.

The square is paved and equipped with benches, inviting visitors to rest and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Originally, a large festival was planned to celebrate the completion of the first construction phase, but this event has also been cancelled due to Covid-19.

The second construction phase involved representatives from the Friends and Sponsors of the Botanical Garden Neuss, the Forum for Urban Development, and the Verein neuss agenda 21 e.V. Suggestions from the local population were considered in the conception of this phase.

Unfortunately, the opening ceremony for the expanded Botanical Garden was also cancelled due to Covid-19, and no specific person has been identified as the presenter for this event. Despite this setback, the expanded Botanical Garden remains a testament to the city's commitment to preserving and enhancing its green spaces.
