Gourmet Encounters: Lady in Madera - A culinary exploration featuring the particular experience with an individual in the city of Madera.
In the heart of Madera, California, a new culinary gem has emerged, promising an exciting fusion of flavours and a warm family atmosphere. Kanojo, a Japanese term meaning "sweet girl" or "girlfriend", is the brainchild of Jilliane Hatsavongsa.
Jilliane noticed a void in the types of meals available in Madera and set out to fill it. With a family background in the sushi business, Jilliane has added tuna poke bowls to the menu, ensuring a taste of the family's sushi heritage.
The restaurant's design aims to give a foodie vibe, with artwork depicting the family's food adventure adorning the walls. Kanojo is located on Howard Road and Schnoor Avenue, and its location is easily accessible on the Dine and Dish interactive map.
One of the most popular dishes at Kanojo is the chicken katsu sando, described as really different and really tasty. For those with a taste for the exotic, the elote option, featuring cheese, hot dog, sweet corn, and parmesan cheese, is a favourite. Korean bulgogi beef bowls have also been a big hit.
If you're in the mood for something unique, try the Korean corn dogs, described as big mozzarella sticks. Kanojo offers two other variations of these delicious treats.
Jilliane's parents, Bo and Cindy, are also part of the Kanojo team. While Bo, the former owner of a sushi spot called Oishii in Fresno and Madera, has retired, he can still be found in the kitchen at Kanojo, cooking up a storm. Cindy also works at Kanojo, preparing dishes.
