Herford County Honours Caring Relatives with Banner Display
The County of Herford is honouring caring relatives during the nationwide Day of Caring Relatives on September 8, 2025. A three-meter long banner will be displayed in front of the county administration building from September 8 to September 14, acknowledging their invaluable contributions.
Over 80% of people in need of care in Germany are cared for at home, primarily by families. County Commissioner Jürgen Müller has highlighted the commitment of caring relatives, stating that care in Germany would not function effectively without their voluntary support. Despite their crucial role, caring relatives often go unnoticed and underappreciated.
To raise awareness about the challenges faced by caring relatives, Britta Holtmann from the care planning department initiated a poster campaign. Although no specific details about the care credit campaign in Herford district were found, Holtmann is available for questions via phone and email. The county administration also offers support to its own employees through care guides, workshops, and an online exchange program for caring relatives.
Mobile care consultations and care support points in Herford provide advice and information on financial support, aids, official documents, and care organization. While professional care and support staff are limited, making it difficult for severely disabled people to receive help, the county administration is committed to recognizing and supporting caring relatives. The banner display from September 8 to September 14 serves as a public acknowledgment of their dedication.
