Luz Cuenca Immersive Art Exhibition Boasts State-of-the-art KV2 Sound System

Luz Cuenca, an immersive digital art experience housed in the ancient temple of San Miguel in Cuenca, Spain, has unveiled a cutting-edge sound system powered by KV2 Audio. This innovative system, designed by sound engineer Poti Martín, enhances the sensory impact of the exhibition, offering a unique audio experience for visitors.

The system, meticulously designed by AV expert Fluge, combines artistic lighting techniques, 2D and 3D projection mapping, and a dramatic orchestral music score. The audio signals, sent via Dante, track by track, from the Watchout 6 video playback system, are processed and distributed to the loudspeakers via NST Audio DSP matrices.

The Luz Cuenca sound system features 12 EX26 two-way active loudspeaker systems evenly distributed along the walls of the nave. Custom white housings were designed for all the loudspeakers to minimize interference with the video mapping. Two pairs of EX1.5 subwoofers are placed either side of the altar, and two pairs are slightly further down the nave, with further EX26s reinforcing the upper gallery level and low end reinforcement provided by eight EX1.5 subwoofers.

The KV2 system offers high sound fidelity and clarity due to dedicated drivers optimized for bass, midrange, and treble frequencies. The EX26, in particular, provides wide, even coverage, superb vocal intelligibility, and high-quality musical reproduction. The powerful low-end reproduction from dual 12” woofers enhances the depth of immersive audio experiences, while the efficient dispersion and coverage from the horn-loaded midrange driver ensures consistent sound across the exhibition spaces.

The synergy between the EX26 and the compact EX1.5 subwoofer in Luz Cuenca is unique. Despite its ability to reproduce low SPLs, the system is capable of reproducing higher SPLs with the same degree of success. This makes every detail of the music in Luz Cuenca audible exactly as it's meant to sound, even at low SPLs.

Fluge specified KV2 for the project due to the system's ability to effectively and uniformly reproduce sound in space at low volumes, focusing on quality rather than pressure. The system in Luz Cuenca will also be used for other events with more demanding level requirements.

Luz Cuenca, a testament to the city's cultural wealth, offers an artistic expression like no other. With its cutting-edge technology and immersive design, it promises to be an unforgettable experience for all who visit.
