Insightful Insights from Nirvan: A Weightless Proverbial Journey

In the peaceful and serene setting of Basava Farms Hostel, within the Art of Living International Centre in Kanakpura village, an unexpected sight caught the eye of a 5-year-old visitor named Nirvan. Early Sunday morning, as the air was calm, crisp, and full of promise, Nirvan spotted a row of birds sitting on an electric wire. To his innocent and imaginative mind, these birds were not just ordinary birds, but tiny philosophers engaged in a meditation course.

Nirvan's father, also present, was meditating in a cross-legged position, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. The child's comparison of the birds' stillness to a course sparked a thought in Sandeep Sabharwal, Co-Founder of Sajeevan, who wrote about this unique incident.

Sabharwal's article suggests that wisdom can come from the most unexpected places, such as a child observing birds meditate. The author was reminded to stop, smile, and look up at electric wires, finding five minutes of pure, unfiltered joy in the simple sight.

Nirvan's explanation was honest, timely, and accurate. He felt stressed when required to sit still for more than one bhajan. His observation of the birds, seemingly meditating, might have been a reflection of his own feelings of stress, but to him, it was a meditation course.

In a playful twist, Sabharwal imagined a conversation between bird-parents, discussing their offspring's activities on the Great Migration route. One bird was even imagined to be chirping on a parallel wire, possibly giving instructions.

This heartwarming story, first published on 26 May 2025, 05:12 IST, serves as a reminder to appreciate the beauty and wisdom that can be found in the simplest of things, even if it's just a row of birds sitting quietly on an electric wire.

Inspired by a 5-year-old's observation, Sandeep Sabharwal proposed that we should reconsider the definition of a meditation course. Sitting on a wire might be a new way for fashion-and-beauty-conscious birds to express their home-and-garden designed lifestyles.

Reminiscing about the incident, Sabharwal suggested that each bird's silence could teach us to slow down, take a moment, and appreciate the elegance of the world's littlest philosophers and their unique lifestyle.
