Lollapalooza festival adds Deftones, Turnstile, Viagra Boys, Doechii, and additional acts to performances in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
Deftones, the renowned American alternative metal band, have announced their participation in several South American festivals next year, and their latest album, "Private Music," is creating quite a buzz.
First launched in 1991, the Lollapalooza festival will make a return to South America in March 2023, with Deftones and Turnstile among the main attractions. The festival will span across Chile, Argentina, and Brazil from March 13 to March 22. Other artists set to perform include Sabrina Carpenter, Lorde, Chappell Roan, and The Killers. Skrillex and Doechii are also confirmed to play at the festival.
In an interview with Metal Hammer, Chino Moreno, the frontman of Deftones, discussed their latest album and shared his thoughts about "Private Music." He believes that the album is one of Deftones' best records and stands alongside their past work. Moreno also revealed that he approached his third year of sobriety while making the album and realized he didn't need drugs for creativity.
"Private Music," Deftones' tenth studio album, was released on August 22, 2022, and is expected to claim a fourth UK Top 10 chart placement. The album's creation was a tumultuous journey, with the studio sessions for their lost album, "Eros," halted in November 2008 due to a car crash involving bassist Chi Cheng and his sister. Work on "Eros" began in the spring of 2007, and it was intended to be Deftones' sixth studio album.
In the same interview with Metal Hammer, Moreno discussed "Eros" and its potential release. However, it seems that the lost album, "Eros," will most likely never see the light of day.
The new issue of Metal Hammer features an extensive interview with Chino Moreno, where he delves deeper into the making of "Private Music" and shares his thoughts on the album. The interview is currently available for readers.
As the excitement builds for the upcoming South American festivals and Deftones' latest album, fans can look forward to a thrilling musical experience in the coming months.
