Gunia Project Opens Stunning Flagship Store in Kyiv

Gunia Project, a renowned Ukrainian design and lifestyle brand, has unveiled its new flagship store in the heart of Kyiv. The store, designed by local design firm TEMP Project studio, is a testament to the brand's commitment to craft, context, and culture.

The store's design reflects both the spirit of Gunia and the soul of Ukraine. The building, which once served as the Embassy of the Republic of Panama, has been transformed into a space that evokes a sense of innocence and nostalgia. It took nearly six months to find a location that would effectively embody Gunia's aesthetic vision.

Anastasiia Tempynska of Temp Project saw the potential of the building and handled the design. The original dark timber ceilings and wall panels have been preserved and brightened with soft pastels, cool materials like stainless steel, milky glass, and crisp white acrylic, and contemporary lighting.

The store design prioritizes clarity and flow, with a recessed reception desk, a children's area, and comfortable waiting areas in each section. The color pairing of chocolate brown and pale blue in the store is inspired by the refectory at the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. Carpeting was introduced for its warm, domestic feel and for practicality, to help protect the fragile ceramics on display.

Furniture selection in the Gunia Project flagship store draws from classic Ukrainian interiors. A wooden table, mirror, and chair pay homage to traditional carving techniques and the Golden Gate, the ancient entrance to Kyiv. Contributions to the furniture selection come from local makers Noom, Woo, Cegla Studios, and Gunia itself. Mirrors in the fitting rooms create a spacious, airy feel.

Every detail in the store's design echoes Gunia's philosophy. The store's offering ranges from whimsical ceramics and jewellery to clothing and accessories. The design uses a palette of forest greens, sky blues, floral pinks, and water-like reflective materials.

The Gunia Project flagship store continues the story told by Gunia's products, creating a conversation between past and present. It's a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique shopping experience that combines Ukrainian tradition with modern design.
