In the bustling city of Davao, the ₱850-million expansion of the Agdao Public Market remains a work in progress. While Phase 1 and 2 of the project have been completed, the third phase (Phase 3) has been put on hold due to a lack of funds [1].

This phase, which involves building an additional structure to accommodate more vendors, includes a proposed miscellaneous section. The exact details of this new building are still unclear, but it seems to be designed to host various vendors currently displaced from existing areas [2].

Vendors, particularly those on the ground floor, have expressed concerns about displacement. Many of these vendors were originally assigned to the second floor but were allowed to sell downstairs temporarily. The city officials, under Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte’s acting mayoral capacity, have granted temporary extensions [1][4].

The market continues to operate daily, with vendors remaining hopeful for a resolution as the project awaits new funding to resume and finalize Phase 3 [3][5].

Meanwhile, the eatery section of Agdao Public Market continues to operate in the old market building during ongoing construction. The market's walkalator is currently under maintenance [6].

Interestingly, the Davao City Economic Enterprise has proposed an additional section at the Agdao Public Market, and market supervisor Leandrie Rose Presoris suggests reclassifying stalls on the second floor as a miscellaneous section to generate additional revenues [7].

Despite the uncertainties, it's worth noting that Agdao Farmers Market has already reached its annual income target since its new facility began operations, according to Presoris [8]. The increase in cost for the newly rented stalls is due to their larger size compared to those in the old facility [9].

As the construction of Phase 3 continues, the eatery section will be relocated to the second floor of the new facility once it is completed [5].

The proposal for an additional section at Agdao Public Market, overseen by the Davao City Economic Enterprise, suggests a reclassification of stalls on the second floor as a miscellaneous section, aiming to generate more revenues. Residents in Davao might find unique home-and-garden or shopping items in this new section, once Phase 3 construction resumes.
