Museums at Humboldt Forum Announce Implementation of Ticketed Entry Starting Shortly - Museum visitors in Humboldt Forum will soon enjoy free admission, as the new policy for major institutions takes effect.
The Humboldt Forum, a cultural hub in the heart of Berlin, is set to implement a new pricing model from October 2025. This change will see a single ticket grant access to five main exhibitions and temporary presentations, while certain areas and programs will remain free for all visitors [1].
Under this new system, a ticket for five exhibitions will cost €14 (reduced €7), and a two-day ticket will be priced at €18 (€9) [1][3]. The ticketed exhibitions will include the permanent collections of the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art, the special exhibition Family Matters (from October 3, 2025), the city exhibition "Berlin Global", and additional temporary exhibitions on the second and third floors of the Humboldt Forum [1][3].
However, it's worth noting that children and young people up to the age of 19 continue to have free admission, ensuring they can still enjoy the cultural offerings without any restrictions [1]. Some areas and programs will remain free for all visitors, including the Humboldt Laboratory, the Sculpture Hall, and certain sections of the exhibition "Berlin Global" [1].
Other free attractions include the stairwell with Impressions. The Humboldt Brothers, the castle cellar, the video panorama, the presentation Traces, and numerous events and educational programs [1]. Access to the roof terrace will cost €3 (reduced €1.50) [1].
The introduction of admission fees is a necessary step to maintain, renew, and expand the existing offer at the Humboldt Forum. Financing solely through public funds is not sufficient to cover rising operating costs and finance new programs in the long run [1].
The Humboldt Forum, located in the Nikolaiviertel, is home to several exhibitions under one roof. Among them are the Ethnological Museum, the Museum for Asian Art, and the Museum Knoblauchhaus, which is included in the ticketed exhibitions [1].
This shift from free admission to a ticketed system marks a significant change for the Humboldt Forum. Despite this, children and young people up to the age of 19 will continue to have free admission, ensuring they can continue to explore and learn in this cultural centre without any financial barriers [1].
