The Women in Maritime breakfast session is fast approaching, and we're excited to announce that the full speaker lineup will be unveiled shortly. This event is focused on women in the maritime sector and aims to foster a more inclusive and diverse industry.

Recent findings from the Women in Maritime Survey 2024 paint a clear picture of the challenges we face. Despite increased attention to gender diversity efforts, tangible results in the maritime sector remain limited. Women represent only 16% of the maritime workforce in surveyed member states, down from 26% in 2021. The gender gap is even more severe at sea, where women account for barely 1% of mariners.

While there is growing recognition and commitment to diversity and inclusion, the data suggests that only pockets of change are emerging rather than widespread, systemic advances. Challenges such as recruitment, retention, and the ongoing skills shortage continue to hamper efforts to improve gender diversity in shipping.

The survey highlights that although diversity initiatives exist, their impact has not yet translated into significant increases in female participation or representation in many maritime roles, especially at sea. This underscores the need for more effective strategies and sustained efforts to realize the intended benefits of diversity in the sector.

At our Women in Maritime breakfast session, esteemed industry professionals will be joining us to share their insights, experiences, and visions. Leading ship owners have confirmed as speakers for the event, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn from these professionals and network with like-minded individuals.

The discussion at the event will explore steps taken, lessons learned, and the confidence needed to push boundaries. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the conversation and help shape the future of the maritime sector.

We invite you to register for our Women in Maritime breakfast session and be a part of the movement towards a more inclusive and diverse maritime industry. Let's work together to create a more equitable future for all.
