Premium Amenities: Parking, Swimming Pool, and Private Rentals are Highly Desirable

In the heart of France, a growing trend is taking root in the sharing and vacation rental economy – the renting out of pools and parking spaces through specialized digital platforms. Emmanuelle Klein, a local resident, has been part of this movement for five years, renting out her pool on Swimmy, a popular platform with over 400,000 users, double the number from 2021.

Meanwhile, Julie Hayat, another local resident, has been using her interior courtyard as a parking lot for over a year, offering her services on CasaPark. The convenience and cost savings are attracting clients, with a couple returning from Italy paying around a hundred euros for 12 days of parking with Julie – a price that is up to twice as cheap as at Beauvais Airport's parking lots, which are often full during the summer months.

The clients renting Emmanuelle's pool find it to be a super place, providing access to a unique and welcoming environment. The total price for a group of friends is 150 euros, a sum that Emmanuelle uses to renovate her pool, terrace, and cover other pool-related expenses. With the demand for pool rentals soaring, Emmanuelle can make up to 5,000 euros in the summer, equivalent to a substantial supplement to her income.

Julie, too, reaps the benefits of her rental business. During the summer, she earns approximately 1,500 euros, equivalent to a thirteenth month. To further enhance the client experience, Julie offers a shuttle service to retrieve their cars.

The practice of renting out extra home features is not limited to pools and parking spaces. Over a million people in France rent out parking spaces on specialized platforms, and this number is expected to grow as more individuals seek to monetize their unused spaces. The vacation rental sector is active, with many French homeowners leveraging supplementary spaces to generate additional income.

Dynamic pricing strategies are often employed to maximize earnings based on demand, seasonality, and local events. This approach has proven successful, particularly during high-demand events like the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics. The practice fits into the broader sharing economy and extra household income efforts, which remain relevant despite France’s overall modest economic growth and cautious household consumption trends in 2025.
