Renewed Shops Cruise into City Centre Hub

Greifswald, a charming coastal town in northern Germany, is welcoming a number of new businesses this summer. From cafés and fashion stores to lifestyle shops, the city centre is buzzing with excitement as these establishments open their doors to the public.

Let's start with Café Spiegelchen, a new addition to Schützenstraße 20. Svea Bohlscheid, the proud owner, named the café after the mirrored facade of the building, and it officially opened on June 13th. Café Spiegelchen offers a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food and drinks, making it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The café is open every day from 10 am to 10 pm.

Moving on, we have K2K Men's Fashion, which opened its doors at Lange Straße 70 on June 12th. Syrian entrepreneur Mohammed Kfilati, who is still learning German and navigating Germany's bureaucratic hurdles, runs the store, offering men's fashion from Turkish brands. K2K is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm, on Saturday from 9:30 am to 4 pm, and is closed on Sunday. Mohammed's brother, Zyad Kfilati, who is an internist in Greifswald, helps out at K2K and even flew to Turkey to buy goods for the store.

Marleen Thoms, a 25-year-old ergotherapist, recently opened "Mini & Meer", a family concept store in Greifswald's city centre. This charming shop, located at an undisclosed address as of now, sells children's clothing, toys, accessories, home decor, and products for adults. Mini & Meer is open Monday and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, and from 10 am to 6 pm the rest of the week, closing on Sundays.

In the world of food, two new establishments have caught the attention of Greifswald's residents. The Backmanufaktur Gertrud, previously located at S-Bar, has moved into Markt 26 on June 10. This establishment, part of the Pommersche Diakonie group, sells soups, baked goods, and honours the Greifswalder artist Gertrud Berger. Breakfast and soups are available, and the interior of the Backmanufaktur is inspired by a painting by Gertrud Berger. It's open Monday to Saturday from 7 am to 5 pm and closed on Sunday.

Shasi Poon, originally a language teacher, opened "Ham & Moon", a lifestyle store in Greifswald's city centre on Mühlenstraße 4. This shop, which has been open since mid-May, sells stationery, decorative items, clothing, small furniture, and more. Ham & Moon's opening hours are Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 11 am to 5 pm, Thursday from 12 pm to 5 pm, and Saturday from 11 am to 2 pm, closing on Sundays.

Last but not least, we have Die Kaffeemühle, which was previously an antique store but is now a café at 3 Mühlenstraße. Linda Schwenke, a trained nurse, is the owner of Die Kaffeemühle. The café aims to respectfully honour the legacy of the previous owner and preserve the history of the house. Die Kaffeemühle is open Tuesday to Friday from 11 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm.
