Revised Bathroom Design by Marie Flanigan Ignores Standard Design Guidelines, yet Sparks Unprecedented Excitement in Each Unexpected Detail

In a daring departure from traditional bathroom design, interior designer Marie Flanigan has breathed new life into a small, unconventional space. This innovative project features several unexpected elements that catch the eye, while maintaining a cohesive and balanced aesthetic.

The bathroom design, characterised by its unique layout, eschews a traditional bathroom vanity in favour of a sleek vanity top and a shelf. A statement sink, crafted entirely from stone, takes centre stage, complemented by a stone basin. The chrome hardware on the sink creates a less utilitarian look, adding a touch of elegance to the space.

One of the key decisions in the design is the installation of the bathroom mirror in front of the window. This placement not only allows for better natural light to fill the room but also contributes to a better flow throughout the space. The mirror, along with the unpolished bathroom and shower stool, stands out due to its rustic, natural design, adding to the spa-like feel of the bathroom.

The colour palette of the bathroom is timeless, with shades of blue and brass dominating the scheme. A brass vase is used in the design to bring in a brass detail and serve as a space-saving option for the eucalyptus, adding a touch of greenery to the room. The bathroom design also includes blue square tiles in the shower nook, adding colour, contrast, and a classic look.

In an embrace of awkward bathroom shapes, unconventional features have been incorporated, such as the placement of the bathroom mirror in front of the window. A copper lantern-style pendant light adds a traditional detail, creating a harmonious blend of modern and classic elements.

The tiles by Bedrosians, which replicate the deep blue wall tiles seen in the design, further enhance the cohesiveness of the space. The design project, despite breaking even the most basic interior design rules, remains a testament to Marie Flanigan's innovative approach and ability to create functional and visually appealing spaces.
