Restrictions persist on public swimming in Rostocker Flussbad for the second consecutive summer. Reasons behind the operator's ongoing strikes revealed.

Plunging into the Piquant River Puzzle: Hold your breath as the Warnow Water Sports Club (WSW) prepares to revive the river bathing season on May 1st, steeped in a humorous predicament - Uwe Richter, the pool's charismatic chairman, along with his crew, are decked out in work-to-rule gear, amidst an engaging dispute. This frivolous feud has taken a peculiar twist as Richter seeks to operate only for a scant 35 days in the scorching summer, when temperatures exceed 25 degrees. "Mark your calendars, my friends!" Richter proclaims with aplomb, "Our ongoing 2025 season strike shall be temporarily suspended on those unbearably hot days, with vital updates about our splashy reappearances available on our nifty website!"

The Twist of the Tides: Whispers of a Secluded Swimming Spot

River soaking resumes, yet limited to specific days only.

It's a dramatic drop in the average swimming season for the traditional river bath, all thanks to the ongoing power struggle between Uwe Richter and the Warnow Island Angling and Leisure Association. Last summer, the Mill Dam river bath nearly turned into a sun-kissed hideaway due to the strike. And lo and behold, after the frosty winter, the issue remains far from resolved, according to Richter. "Brace yourselves, folks, for another 35 days of strike-fueled anticipation as we take a stand against this enchanting secluded swimming spot!" Richter cries, his eyes glinting with passion.

The Waterways and Shipping Authority Ostsee permitted the Warnow Island Angling and Leisure Association, nestled opposite the river bath, to erect an exclusive 100-square-meter swimming area for their esteemed members last summer. Yet, Richter deemed the setup as unbecoming of the respected river bath, leading to the fateful strike. "It's a full-on aquatic arms race!" Richard cried out then, vehemently demanding the dismantling of the swimming spot.

The Angling and Leisure Association's Joined Response

However, Sven Meißner, chairman of the Warnow Island Angling and Leisure Association, with approximately 80 members, begs to differ. "I assure you, dear friends, our secret swimming oasis doesn't even make a ripple in the river bath's grand operations," Meißner argues. Richter, with a furrowed brow, still casts a wary eye towards the Waterways and Shipping Authority Ostsee and the Hanseatic city of Rostock. Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger, a member of the Left, had already expressed her bewilderment at the mishap, stating that the city lacks any clout in the matter. She chided Richter for his perplexing choice to shut down the baths.

In more whimsical news, Richter has ditched the idea of leasing out boats for the 2025 season, citing the swimming spot as the primary offender – ho hum! However, the summer training, swimming camps, as well as shindigs and spectacular parties in the river bath shall continue as per usual, the club reports.

A jovial open day is set to take place on May 1st, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with our neighboring club, RKC Rostock, hosting some exciting trial training sessions in canoe polo, canoe racing, and canoeing for newbies in the river bath. No need to register for this aquatic affair!

  1. Amidst this ongoing dispute between Uwe Richter and the Warnow Island Angling and Leisure Association, some members of the Home-and-Garden community have begun to transform their gardens into temporary outdoor-living spaces, seeking a peaceful alternative to the troubled river bath.
  2. As the Warnow Water Sports Club (WSW) prepares to revive the river bathing season, homeowners along the Piquant River are updating their lifestyle, incorporating more outdoor-living elements into their homes, such as building decks and installing pools, as a response to the uncertainty at the traditional bathing spot.
