Royal Orchid Hotels Launches Paisa4Plates Initiative to Fight Hunger in India
Royal Orchid Hotels, in collaboration with ICONIQA Mumbai and the Paisa4Plates initiative, is set to launch a charitable program across its Indian properties by late 2025. The program, inspired by London's Pounds4Plates movement, will enable guests to contribute to feeding the homeless and providing meals to children.
Paisa4Plates, led by Aryaveer Baljee, aims to facilitate voluntary guest contributions of 0.5% of their bill to local charities. This sustainable and low-barrier model allows hotels to act as facilitators, gaining goodwill while addressing critical social issues. Guests staying at over 120 Royal Orchid hotels across India will have the option to contribute, with each hotel selecting the local charity to support.
The initiative, set to launch in late 2025, will initially cover Royal Orchid's Indian properties. Plans are in place to expand its reach in collaboration with local NGOs and food banks. Baljee expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting its potential to make a tangible difference in the lives of the hungry and homeless in India. Shibani Malhotra, General Manager of ICONIQA Mumbai, also expressed enthusiasm, stating it aligns with the company's mission to make travel impactful for all.
The Paisa4Plates initiative, in partnership with Royal Orchid Hotels, will allow guests to contribute to feeding the homeless and providing mid-day meals to children. With a planned launch across over 120 Royal Orchid hotels in India by late 2025, the program aims to foster empathy and consciousness among guests while addressing critical issues of hunger and homelessness.
