In the world of audio technology, Shure is making waves not just for its high-quality products, but also for its commitment to sustainability.

The company, known for its microphones and headphones, is striving to be environmentally responsible, with a focus on its people, products, facilities, and communities. Chris Schyvinck, President and CEO at Shure, aptly stated, "Green isn't just in our logo, it's an important part of who we are."

Shure's efforts extend beyond the logo. The company is working diligently to reduce its environmental footprint. One significant achievement is the estimated saving of over 100 million AA batteries from landfills by 2027, thanks to their rechargeable products. In the past five years alone, Shure has eliminated nearly 30 million batteries from ending up in landfills.

The savings don't end with batteries. Shure's products are engineered to help with overall power consumption, using less energy in "down" modes. This thoughtful design contributes to a greener planet by reducing energy consumption.

Shure's sustainable initiatives aren't limited to its products. The company is also making strides in packaging. Key sustainable packaging initiatives include replacing thermoform trays with more sustainable alternatives, reducing plastic materials, reducing literature, and right-sizing packaging. Shure has set a goal to convert 75% of new packaging to recyclable and/or renewable materials by 2023, and aims to reach 90% by 2025 and 100% by 2030.

Shure's manufacturing plants also play a crucial role in its sustainability efforts. These facilities have recycling programs for cardboard boxes and wooden pallets, keeping cardboard waste and thousands of wooden pallets out of landfills.

Shure is not alone in its journey towards sustainability. The company works with suppliers who take action on sustainability, including those using solar power and recycled water. Shure is a member of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, demonstrating its commitment to collaborative efforts in this area.

Moreover, Shure's Wireless Workbench Software allows for remote monitoring of power use, further aiding in energy conservation.

One example of Shure's impact can be seen in the world of theatre. One Broadway show alone saved over 21,000 AA batteries from landfills by using Shure's rechargeable system.

Shure also regularly reviews international regulations, directives, and standards to ensure environmental compliance with regulations like RoHS, REACH, and WEEE.

In summary, Shure is not just a leader in audio technology, but also in sustainability. The company's commitment to reducing its environmental impact, from batteries to packaging, is commendable and serves as an inspiration for other companies in the industry.
