Kajenmarkt Festivities Return to Bremen's Weser Promenade on April 26

For the 37th consecutive year, Bremen residents and visitors alike can look forward to a vibrant and bustling atmosphere at the Kajenmarkt, which kicks off on Saturday, April 26. The annual event, held on the first two weekends of every month until September 21, transforms the Schlachte promenade along the Weser into a celebration mile.

The Kajenmarkt features a diverse range of goods, international delicacies, and a colorful supporting program with live music from 11:00 to 18:00 each day on the opening weekend. Traditionally, maritime sounds initiate the season, with the Shanty Chor Grambke taking the stage at 11:00 on Saturday. Throughout the weekend, you can enjoy performances by Larry & the Handjive, Capstan Shanty-Chor, and the Gordon band.

The culinary offerings at the Kajenmarket cater to a wide array of tastes, according to market manager Thomas Ledwig. Representatives from the Pfalz region will provide wine, while the Netherlands contributes its famous Poffertjes. Foodies can also sample Danish hot dogs, classic north German fish rolls, and a variety of local favorites like ice cream, bratwurst, currywurst, fries, potato pancakes, and freshly baked pretzels. A range of refreshments is also available, making it easy to start or end the weekend at the Weser with a Schorle, white wine, beer, or Aperol Spritz.

In addition to culinary delights and live music, traders offer a variety of goods such as silver, fashion, gemstone jewelry, leather goods, liquors, gift items, 3D greeting cards, natural soaps, and maritime items. After the opening weekend, the Kajenmarkt takes place on the first two Saturdays of each month.

While the specific schedule and activities for the 2025 event are not available, the Delme Shanty Singers are expected to perform at 11 a.m. on the event's day. The lively atmosphere, diverse offerings, and live entertainment make the Kajenmarkt a must-visit event for both locals and tourists.

For those seeking additional cultural and entertainment options in Bremen, events like Floyd Unlimited at Meisenfrei Blues Club and Jazz performances at Bremen Die Glocke are scheduled for later in the year. To stay up-to-date on the Kajenmarkt and other events in Bremen, it is recommended to check the official event website or contact the organizers directly.

At the Kajenmarkt, you can immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere and enjoy an array of international food-and-drink options, including Danish hot dogs, Poffertjes from the Netherlands, and various local favorites like currywurst and bratwurst. Additionally, the event features home-and-garden goods, including natural soaps, maritime items, and a variety of unique gifts, making it a great place to explore new lifestyles and traditions.
