Misfits Market Expands Sustainable Grocery Offerings with Acquisition and New Household Category

Misfits Market, the online grocer known for its mission to reduce food waste, has announced its acquisition of The Rounds, a grocery delivery service, aiming to expand its sustainable grocery footprint. This move is part of a broader trend in the industry that aligns with rigorous sustainability standards and transparency.

In a recent issue of Progressive Grocer, several sustainable household products were highlighted as the Best New Products of 2025. These products reflect a strong focus on environmental stewardship, clean ingredients, and transparency. Notable examples include Cox's Key West Pink Gulf Shrimp, a premium, chemical-free, and sustainably sourced seafood product, and Karviva Functional Juices, which prioritize holistic energy support with clean-label transparency.

Whole Foods Market, profiled in the same issue, exemplifies this trend by banning over 500 ingredients, enforcing animal welfare and sustainability standards, and focusing on nourishing people and the planet through carefully curated sustainable products. This context suggests that top sustainable household products in 2025 reflect these industry-leading values.

Misfits Market has also made strides in expanding its product offerings over the past year. The e-grocer has launched a new household category, featuring products from five brands: Molly's Suds, Repurpose, If You Care, Caboo, and Root & Splendor. This new category offers about 30 high-usage SKUs, categorized into four key subcategories: laundry care, cleaning supplies, kitchen goods, and paper products.

The company's private label line, Odds & Ends, now surpasses 100 SKUs, with 60 new products under development. The household goods offered have been carefully vetted to exclude harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances, and single-use plastics.

The introduction of the Household Essentials section marks a major milestone in Misfits Market's evolution into a wider destination for everyday items. The assortment includes biodegradable trash bags, bamboo paper goods, reusable kitchen supplies, and safer-ingredient laundry detergents.

Misfits Market founder and CEO, Abhi Ramesh, noted that the company is making it easier for customers to extend their trust in sustainable brands to the rest of their homes. This move aligns with recent trends, as everyday essentials and groceries have been popular among Amazon Prime Day shoppers this year.

Since the start of 2024, the total number of SKUs offered by Misfits Market surpasses 1,100, representing a 50% year-over-year increase. The company has rescued over 238 million-plus pounds of food to date and has raised more than $525 million in funding. Misfits Market works directly with farmers and producers to build a food value supply chain aimed at reducing waste and making high-quality groceries more accessible and affordable throughout the contiguous United States.

The 2024 impact report of Misfits Market details the company's progress in fighting food waste, expanding access, and other achievements. This report serves as a testament to Misfits Market's commitment to its mission and its role in shaping the future of sustainable grocery shopping.
