The historic Roman Bath in Castle Albrechtsberg revives for the day
Dresden's Roman Bath Prepares for Renovation with Public's Assistance
The storied Roman Bath at Albrechtsberg Castle in Dresden, Germany, will undergo a comprehensive renovation starting in June. The city of Dresden is seeking both residential and monetary support for the project, which is expected to be completed by 2029.
The restoration will proceed in two construction phases. The first phase will focus on stabilizing the structure and refurbishing the sandstone steps. An estimated sum of 4.2 million euros is required for this stage.
In the second phase, volunteers from the local community will be indispensable. The bath's pool will be refurbished during this phase, allowing a future water fountain to spout as it once did. The city aims to raise a million euros through public donations, with an additional 2.5 million euros needed for the pool's restoration.
Donors contributing to the project can receive a tax-deductible donation receipt by providing their address. Interested parties can find more information on making a donation by referring to the following account details:

Constructed in the 19th century in the Italian style, the Roman Bath features a large water basin with a fountain and 16 Corinthian columns arranged in a semicircle. After World War II, the castle served various purposes, including operation as a hotel and, later, a pioneer palace of the GDR. From 1951 until the 1990s, the bath's water basin operated as a public swimming pool. The complex is enclosed by two small temples.
By rebuilding the bath according to historical models, visitors can once again experience the complex and its tranquil atmosphere. Unlike previous iterations, the restored bath will not feature a swimming pool. Initial renovations to one of the temples and the outer area of the Roman Bath were completed in 2014.
People interested in supporting sustainable living and outdoor-living projects can donate to the renovation of Dresden's Roman Bath. This restoration aims to preserve the historical structure, which includes home-and-garden elements like sandstone steps and a tranquil pool, fostering a lifestyle that values the past and promotes sustainable living.
