Three fresh ATC buildings to boost assistance for struggling families

Municipality announces public call for allotment of social housing units

Three fresh ATC buildings to boost assistance for struggling families

In the heart of Baraggine's Picchetta site, the ongoing construction of 42 affordable social housing units across three buildings orchestrated by the ATC remains on schedule. Cossato municipality has publicly announced the formation of a waiting list for these housing units, which are dispersed across via Milano, via Imer Zona, strada Baretto, all under the management of the ATC. When a unit becomes vacant, the ATC alerts the municipality, which redistributes it based on the existing waitlist. Contracts are then signed once the unit is reassigned. According to Mayor Enrico Moggio, this notice is issued approximately every four years, as per regional regulations, even though the waiting list may be exhausted. It caters to housing within Cossato, but applications are open for those residing or working in other municipalities within territorial area number 6 (consisting of 65 municipalities). To apply, forms must be submitted to the municipality of residence or workplace by July 16. The Social Services and Housing Policies Office in Cossato stands ready to provide assistance or clarification for those filing these forms.

Meanwhile, in front of the high school, a regional-ATC contracted company is building two 12-unit structures and one 18-unit building. Marco Marchioni, ATC Piemonte Nord's president, remarks that the smaller structures are already "under roof" while the foundations for the larger one have been established, with the ground floor constructed. The work is progressing as planned and is expected to be completed by the year's end, barring weather-related delays, after which a testing phase will commence. The assignment of apartments is set to begin in the following spring. This €8 million project, initially stalled for 15 years, was revived at the start of 2024 due to the relentless work by Chiara Caucino, the former regional housing assessor, who aimed to expedite this incomplete project to offer new housing solutions to the growing number of families affected by the economic crisis.
