Creating a chalkboard calendar at home can be a fun and creative way to organise your monthly plans. Here's a simple guide to help you make and maintain your very own chalkboard wall calendar.
Making the Chalkboard Wall Calendar

Next, design the layout. Draw a grid for the days of the month, usually 7 columns (days of the week) by 5 rows (weeks). Include a space for “This Month,” notes, or memos to keep your calendar organised and functional.
To keep lines and numbers neat and consistent, use stencils or rulers when drawing the grid and dates. Label the days of the week at the top, then add dates inside each grid square using regular chalk or chalk markers for a crisp look.
Optional decorative touches can be added with chalk markers to enhance aesthetics and make it visually appealing.
Maintaining and Cleaning the Chalkboard Calendar
Regular cleaning is essential to prevent build-up. Use a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth to erase chalk markings daily or weekly. For stubborn chalk residue, use a damp cloth with water or a clean magic eraser gently, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that could damage the chalkboard surface.
Use chalk markers as they erase cleanly and create less dust. Also, avoid smudging by letting the ink dry fully before touching. Do not fuss with abrasive cleaners or rough scrubbing to preserve the smooth surface and longevity of your chalkboard calendar.
Additional Tips
Position the calendar in a visible, easily accessible spot to encourage regular updates. Personalise the calendar with colour-coded chalk or markers to categorise events (e.g., work, family, appointments).
