Travel by Leaf and Foot: Transportation Forecast for 2025
In several cities within Bergisch Gladbach, residents can purchase paper bags for the collection of leaves and brushwood from their city gardens. The collection period will span from October to December 2025.
Residents of Refrath can find these bags at Kult-Kiosk-Shop and Kiosk 40a, Siebenmorgen 40 a, while those in Gronau can visit Breidohr Frische-Center, De-Gasperi-Straße 1. In Schildgen, the bags are available at Haushaltswaren Daume GmbH, Kempener Straße 235. For residents of Herkenrath, EDEKA Hetzenegger Getränkemarkt, Straßen 69-71, is the place to go. In Paffrath, REWE Jakubek, Getränkemarkt, Kempener Straße 79, offers the bags. In Sand, Edeka-Market Hetzenegger, located at Herkenrather Straße 70, is the spot. In Bensberg, residents can purchase the bags at Edeka-Market Teske and OBI-DIY Market, An der Bahn 1-3.
In addition to these locations, paper bags for leaf and brushwood collection may also be found in local gardening centres, hardware stores, or general merchandise shops. Online platforms such as classified ads also offer used or new paper bags suitable for this purpose.
Registrations for the collections are mandatory and can be done in advance. Registrations for the October collection are accepted immediately, for November from 10.10., and for December from 14.11.2025. To register, residents should provide their name, street, house number, and the number of leaf bags to be collected. Telephone registrations are not preferred due to the large number of requests. Instead, registrations should be made via email at [email protected].
It is important to note that plastic or jute bags must not be used for the collection. The municipal waste management department will collect leaves and brushwood from city gardens during the specified period. In Bergisch Gladbach, collections will take place in the 41st week of October, 46th week of November, and 50th week of December. In Moitzfeld, EDEKA Hetzenegger, Moitzfeld 72, is the location for purchasing the bags.
In Bergisch Gladbach, it is possible that paper bags for leaf and brushwood collection may also be available at DIY markets, waste management centres, or recycling facilities such as the Wertstoffhof Kippemühle and Refrather Weg 34.
